WHAT A BEAUTIFUL STATEMENT TO BE ABLE TO MAKE TO YOU ALL. HOME.
This past year was one of transition, upheaval and uncertainty for our beloved outreach to our neighbors in need, but also a year of indefatigable hope. After many months of searching for a new location, in this season of the Nativity of Christ we can truly say we are home – in our own space, in a location that is now the future and foundation of our mission. Here we can be more effective in our work, provide assistance with the most basic needs in life, and practice merciful acts of kindness, even as we bring our own burdens and transform them through communion with others. Welcome now to FOCUS House!
For more than eight years we have come before you with news of our work, and an open invitation to join us in meeting Christ’s call, to act for the good of others. With our work grounded in FOCUS House, that bright future can be realized if we act together in our mission to help those in need, united in our love towards one another. In our own journey to find a new location, God has blessed us abundantly. This past summer, individuals with great compassion for the poor, and steadfast support of FOCUS Minnesota, came forward in extreme generosity to enable us to secure this wonderful new home. In these first few months there will be much work to do to make the building our own. As we begin to move in and set ourselves up to resume our activities, the plan is to expand the kitchen, clothes distribution and reception areas in order to adapt these spaces to better serve our community. Our goal is to nurture the space for service to others as a refuge, a place of kindness and comfort. If we receive in our hearts the mystery of Christ the Incarnate God who came to dwell among us, how can we turn away from the joyful opportunity to offer hospitality to those who seek shelter in our new home?
Please pray for us! Please visit us! Please support us!
FOCUS Minnesota is the place where we strive to model the love and humility that are given to us in Christ’s Holy Birth. It is Christ within us that gives us the strength to be a reflection of God among us, and with your help, this can be fulfilled at FOCUS House.
Wishing you all peace and joy this Christmas season.

LOCATION NEAR STATE CAPITOL LENDS ITSELF TO PROVIDING BASIC NEEDS TO POOR AND HOMELESS.
FOCUS Minnesota is pleased to announce that after an extensive six month search throughout the Twin Cities and with the generous contribution of donors, it now has a permanent home in the Minnesota Women’s Building in the historic Capitol Rice District of St. Paul. From this location and beginning in 2019, FOCUS will resume its basic needs services including hot meals, a food shelf, distribution of clothing and household items, brown bag meals through low-income neighborhood schools and homeless youth support agencies, and more. All services will be provided free of charge.
Located on the corner of Rice and Charles Streets, the Minnesota Women’s Building was built in 1889, and is home to several non-profit organizations. FOCUS Minnesota will occupy the first and lower floors, and is embarking on a renovation to create a space that better serves the needs of their clients. Located three blocks from the Minnesota State Capitol, the building is walking distance from bus and train lines, easily accessible with no stairs at the entry and an elevator inside, and in an area of need.
As owner of the building at 550 Rice Street, FOCUS Minnesota is secure in its future and ready to move to its next phase of service. In 2019, the non-profit looks forward to creating a house of hospitality and comfort, building relationships with residents, businesses and social services in the new neighborhood, and launching a free mobile medical clinic in the Twin Cities.
